Protect yourself from mosquitos by practicing the 4 D's:

  • DRAIN standing water
  • Wear insect repellent containing DEET
  • Stay indoors at DUSK and DAWN when mosquitoes are most active
  • DRESS in long sleeves and pants to avoid bites

ZIKA

Zika virus is spread to people primarily through mosquito bites. A confirmed case of sexual transmission has also been reported. The most common symptoms of Zika virus disease are fever, rash, joint pain, and conjunctivitis (red eyes). About 1 in 5 people infected with Zika virus ultimately become ill. The illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting from several days to a week. Severe disease requiring hospitalization is uncommon.

National Immunization Awareness Month

The Brazos County Health Department encourages people of all ages to protect their health by being vaccinated against infectious diseases.

TB skin tests will not be offered after 4 pm on Tuesday, June 30- Friday, July 3.

 

TB skin tests will be offered again during regular clinic hours on Monday, July 6.

College Round-Up

College Round-Up

Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 3-5:30 pm at the Brazos County Health Dept.

College required vaccines, including the meningitis vaccine and the Tetanus, Diptheria, Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine, will be available to current High School Seniors. 

Those eligible to receive vaccines for a $5 fee include:

· Children (18 years & younger) who are uninsured

· Children (18 years & younger)  who have insurance that does not cover vaccinations
